Sundarba is the single largest mangrove forest in the world. 62 percent of these forests are located in Khulna district of Bangladesh and the remaining 38 percent in West Bengal's Twenty-four Parganas district. Animals of Sundarbans:
All kinds of animals live in Sundarbans. Sundarbans has about 50 species of mammals, 50 species of reptiles, 320 species of birds, 8 species of amphibians and 400 species of fish. Among the mammals of the Sundarbans, the Royal Bengal Tiger is world famous. Apart from this, there are cheetahs, Maya deer, monkeys, forest cats, leopards, porcupines, wild boars, and wild boars. There are various birds, bucks, storks, ospreys, mud-dwelling lenjas, and goats, which now live among the river channels and trees. Gangchil, water pigeon, tern etc. can be seen on the sea coast. Economic position of Sundarbans:
Wood obtained from Sundarbans is used as fuel and charcoal. Apart from this, mannanak fruit is used as cattle feed. The story is dried and used to make house rice and fences. The oysters or snails found in the Sundarbans are good sources of dietary lime. A class of people depend on the Sundarbans for their livelihood. This honey is exported abroad as well as brikri in the country. Fishermen live in the Sundarbans, catch fish and sell it in local markets and in various places. Several industries have been built around the forest resources of the Sundarbans. Khulna Newsprint and Hardboard Mills are notable among them.
Current location of Sundarbans:
People have entered here by being attracted to the forest resources of Sundarbans. It is out of balance. Apart from this, Mannyov is also devastated by getting Sabnattak Vidhi. The Sundarbans is the last habitat of Ray's Bengal Tiger. The number of tigers has reduced to 450 due to attacks by poachers. The Sundarbans have suffered huge losses in recent times.
